Expansion of Knowledge
Cotopaxi
Although we did not get to see Cotopaxi, I thought that it was important to learn more about it. At this National Park, there is the Limpiopungo lake which is a seasonal lake. I thought that this concept was fascinating. During the rainy season of Ecuador, the lake is more full. During Ecuador's dry season, the lake has multiple wet patches, but there is land patches visible. The National Park had stopped allowing visitors to travel to the summit of Cotopaxi since the eruption of 2015. During this trip, it was discussed on the bus that it is dangerous to hike with all of the ice. When people want to hike, they would have to do it at specific parts of the day in order to ensure that they would not be slipping on ice.
